The Black Dahlia
The Black Dahlia weaves a fictionalized tale of obsession, love, corruption, greed and depravity around the brutal murder of a fledgling hollywood starlet the shocked and fascinated the nation in 1947 and remians unsolved today. Two ex-cops, Lee Blanchard (Aaron Eckhart) and Bucky Bleichert (Josh Hartnett), are called to investigate the homicide of ambitious silver-screen B-lister Betty Ann Short (Mia Kirshner) A.K.A "The Black Dahlia" - an attack so grisly that images of the killing were kept from the public. While Blanchard's growing preoccupation with the sensational murder threatens his relationship with Kay (Scarlett Johnsson), his partner Bleichert finds himself attracted to the enigmatic Madeleine Linscott (two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank), the daughter of one of the city's most prominent families - who just happens to have an unsavory connection to the murder victim.

Kristanna Loken Joins The L Word
26-year-old out actress Kristanna Loken is joining the cast of Showtime's popular lesbian drama The L Word in its fourth season, Variety revealed today. Loken will appear in 10 episodes, playing a single mom who meets Shane (Katherine Moennig) at a PTA meeting.
Loken came out publicly earlier this year in an interview with Curve magazine. "I have dated and have had sex with men and women and have to say that the relationships I have had with certain women have been much more fulfilling, sexually and emotionally, than of those with certain men," she said. "I connect with an aura, with energy. And if the person with whom I connect happens to be a female, that’s just the way it is. That’s what makes my wheels turn.”
This is the not Loken's first appearance on a TV series: She has had recurring roles on shows like Philly (2002), Mortal Kombat: Conquest (1999), and Pensacola: Wings of Gold (1998). Her breakout role came in 2003 on the big screen, in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003).
Loken most recently starred in the action movie BloodRayne (2005), and has a role in a trilogy of fantasy movies for the Sci Fi Channel. She can next be seen in the independent film Lime Salted Love (2006).
Loken is the latest high-profile guest star to join the fourth season of The L Word. Earlier this summer, Showtime announced that Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin would be playing a deaf lesbian who takes a romantic interest in Bette. Last month, Cybill Shepherd signed on to play a married mother and college president who begins to question her sexuality. Season one cast member Karina Lombard is also reprising her role for a few episodes in the upcoming season.
The fourth season of The L Word debuts in early 2007.

Matlin nervous as she approaches 'L Word' part
Marlee Matlin admits she's been feeling "nervous, anxious — like the new kid in school," as she's joining the cast of Showtime's "The L Word," shooting in
"That's the part I love about acting, when people have asked me to do things I've never done that are different and challenging," says the Oscar-winning actress, who'll play an artist, the new lesbian love interest of Jennifer Beals' character on the show. "Certainly the scripts I've been reading are not like any I've done."
Speaking through her interpreter, Matlin, who's been deaf since she was 18 months old, adds of her former series castmates, "When I went to the wrap party for West Wing,' everyone was so supportive of my doing the show. Jimmy Smits said, I love "The L Word,"' and Richard Schiff said, I'm getting Showtime.' I hadn't seen any of the episodes until I got involved. I'm a mom of four, and I go to bed early. But they gave me the DVDs, and I got hooked."
Matlin recently shot both an "Extreme Makeover" — the Aug. 3 edition in which a man who's helped many deaf individuals and who is deaf himself will get a full-on physical transformation — and an "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" that'll air in the fall.
"I've been so busy — the best thing is my kids and my husband, they're the best support group," says the actress, who has been married to Kevin Grandalski since 1993. "And The L Word' (which shoots in
