Showtime's "The L Word" Complete 5th Season on DVD (Oct 28)

L Hath No Fury... "The L Word" tells intertwined stories about the lives and loves of a group of women--some lesbian, some straight--in Los Angeles.

THE L WORD, Showtime's popular cable TV drama series, is back with the Complete 5th Season DVD set arriving next Tuesday October 28 (SRP $55.98).

Creator/producer Ilene Chaiken is gearing up for the 6th (and final) season debuting in January, which will be an abbreviated 8-episode season. Afterwards, the producers will broadcast a pilot for a possible spinoff series centering around Leisha Hailey's character Alice Pieszecki.

Showtime's CEO Matt Blank first announced plans for the new show at the Television Critics Association press tour in July.

The L WORD: Five Season Pack - Paramount and Showtime have also packaged every episode of the series' five seasons! Each season set includes many exciting bonus features, including audio commentaries, cast interviews and behind-the-scenes featurettes, music selections, fan letters, website features, and much more (SRP $235.98).

The L Word DVD news: Season 5

This past Monday saw Showtime and Paramount announce the October 21st DVD release of The L Word - The Complete 5th Season. Our first report had all the early info, which was a bit skimpy on the details. Now our industry friends have helped fill in the blanks with some additional info! This will be a 4-disc set which lists for $55.98 SRP, but can be pre-ordered from Amazon at a discount (currently $38.99 as we write this, but it could change without notice). Besides the 12 hour-long episodes, you'll also get "behind-the-scenes special features" as extras. Final cover art isn't available yet, and it might end up looking very different from the temp art sent to retailers, which we have below. Stay tuned and we'll bring you the finalized packaging picture, just as soon as Paramount makes it available.
